Becoming as God Sees Us in the Wilderness

The wilderness is free of distractions.  We are surrounded not by negativity, peoples’ expectations, and the pressures of life, but rather we are surrounded by the very things that God created.

This allows us the freedom to express ourselves as we are.

We can become who we truly are, who God sees us to be, in the wilderness, because there we see God’s creations, not the fake and simulated worlds that are so prevalent when we are surrounded by other people.

As we see God’s creation – an expression of His infinite imagination, design, and delight – we are stimulated to become more like Him.

I know for myself, the wilderness is a place where the pressure is off – no one is expecting me to be something, act a certain way, or perform certain duties.  I can be who God has created me to be at heart, even to discover what that is, what it looks like, and to become that very thing that God sees in me to bring it back to everyday life.

  1. So true. I like living in the country for this very reason. I never feel so free and released of the pressures of life as I do when I’m hiking around the countryside and forest. I try to go hiking at least once a week just to get away from it all. It’s the most amazing feeling to see God’s country before you and get some fresh air. Total freedom to unwind. I love it!
