Seabreeze is a family tradition for many people who live in the greater Rochester area. However, I’d never visited until last weekend. (I can scramble to the top of the highest peak in the Rocky Mountains, walk to the lowest point in North America, visit 48 states and 12-ish countries, and effectively hike from Seattle to the Florida Keys, but not go to the local family amusement park… ah, priorities.) We had a fun day, so I’ll give you my thoughts on Seabreeze Park and review all of the rides!

Seabreeze: Overall Impressions

There’s no question that this is a family park, though “family” ranges in age from grandparents to parents to 20-somthings to teens to tweens to children to babies. I saw every age group having fun.

May favorite thing was the laid-back nature of everyone, from the staff to the visitors. No one was pushing or cutting in line, no one was yelling at people, no one was super stressed… it was all chill. I loved it!

Sure, some of the staff was tired by the end of the day, but even so, they did a good job of being really nice right through the end of their shift. Another plus of the staff is that they’re trained to keep groups together. They know families and friend groups want to go on the same ride at the same time, so they’ll work the lines to make sure it happens (and they don’t care of you let someone ahead of you in line so you and your friends/family can stay together).

SeaBreeze has plenty of food options, but I found it to be way over my price range ($10 for a slushie? Umm, no). We walked down the hill through Parking Lot 3 to Bill Gray’s for lunch.

You CAN walk out to your vehicle and back into the park – they’ll stamp your hand (be careful with hand sanitizer after that!), and you show the security guard the stamp on the way back in. If it’s the same guard, they’ll very likely recognize you. 5 Stars for customer service on that!

You ARE allowed to bring food and drink into the park, just not alcohol. Strollers and bags are checked on the way in, and everyone has to walk through a metal detector (a glasses case in my bag set off the alarm… I forgot there was metal in it!)

And now for the rides! I’ll start with the entry at Parking Lot 3 (there is also an entry gate at Parking Lot 1) and work my way through the park. A map of the park can be found here.

Every Ride at SeaBreeze Reviewed!

From Parking Lot 3, the first thing you’ll walk through is the water park. I’ll talk about that later and jump right into the amusement park rides. For pictures/description of the rides, SeaBreeze has a great website.

Lastly, my rating system is as follows:

My Fun Rating = 1-5 scale, with 1 being “awful” and 5 being “terrific” (purely my opinion)

Intensity 1-4, with 1 being less intense and 4 being extremely intense (relatively speaking). Based on the park’s 3-point scale, I adjusted it to fit my own thoughts plus added a 4^th category for the rides I thought were more intense than a simple 3 rating.

Spin, Drop, or Other Excitement = How much spinning or leave-your-stomach-at-the-top feeling a ride or attraction provides – or in the case of the less-intense rides, I’ll take about whether the ride is dark, gets you wet, etc.

Little Kids = height requirements, and whether or not adults are allowed on the kiddie rides.

Wave Swinger

My Fun Rating: 4/5

Spin, Drop, or Other Excitement: The ride spins in a circle fairly quickly

Little Kids: Minimum 44″

Classic and fun. Too bad I’d already been on too many spinning rides! But it was still fun! It’s the kids’ favorite to take off their flip flops, crocs, or shoes (required if your shoes are loose) and swing barefoot.

Log Flume

My Fun Rating: 5/5

The Log Flume was one of my favorite rides. It wasn’t too intense (until that last drop… wow!), but it did get you wet! I’d come prepared, though, in a sun shirt and one of my hiking skirts, both of which dried quickly.

Balloon Race

I didn’t end up doing this; it’s in the middle of the kiddie area, and the rest of my group wasn’t thrilled with it last time. I imagine you’d get a pretty good view of the lake from up there, though.

Bumper Cars

Spin, Drop, or Other Excitement: You do go in a one-way direction in a circle and can be jolted around by others running into your car (or you running into their cars!)

Little Kids: Minimum 42″; those 42”-50” must be accompanied by a responsible adult

Definitely just fun. It has a slight learning curve, and you’ll probably end up in a traffic jam sooner or later.

Music Express

My Fun Rating: 4/5

Spin, Drop, or Other Excitement: The ride spins in a circle, both backward and forward!

Little Kids: Minimum 48″

The Music Express was another of my favorite rides, in part because while it spins, it doesn’t spin fast, and secondly because it goes both backward and forward (which means it gets you dizzy and then gets you un-dizzy!) Possibly the most fun ride on it was when Justin Beiber’s “Baby” came over the PA… one kid was like, “Oh, no, not that one!” but all the girls screamed and started singing at the top of their lungs!

Sea Dragon

I might have enjoyed it earlier in the day, but my head was spinning by the time we did this, so I didn’t really find it very fun. In general, though, I really like drops, so this should have been a favorite!

Bobsleds

My Fun Rating: 4/5

Spin, Drop, or Other Excitement: A few drops and a small bit of spinning at the end

Little Kids: Minimum 38″; those 38”-48” must be accompanied by a responsible adult

We saved this until late in the day because my group felt it was bumpy and not very fun. I didn’t think it was that bad, but it’s also not as good as the Jack Rabbit IMO. The Bobsleds were installed in 1962, the second roller coaster in the world to have a steel tubular track.

Whirlwind

Spin, Drop, or Other Excitement: Extreme drops and the seats spin pretty good, too

Little Kids: Minimum 48″

This was probably my favorite ride in the park, but it’s just too intense for me to do it more than twice over the course of an entire day. That said, it was also the only ride where, on the first drop, my screaming was sheer terror, not just “oh, let’s scream out our adrenaline on the roller coaster!” You do get a good view of Lake Ontario if you think to look!

Revolution 360

My Fun Rating: 1/5 (others in my group would probably give it a 3/5)

Little Kids: Minimum 48″

I truly hated this ride. Spinning in circles while swinging back and forth just wasn’t my kind of fun. But two of my group went back for a second ride, so I guess they thought it was fun!

Barnstormers

The Spring

As one of the few rides in the park that doesn’t spin, I liked the Spring quite a bit!

Carousel

My Fun Rating: 4/5

Intensity: 1/4

Spin, Drop, or Other Excitement: The ride travels at a moderate pace in a circle

Little Kids: Those under 42” must be accompanied by a responsible adult

I have a serious love of carousels, especially when they’re hand-painted like this one! It’s considered historic, though the actual historic model (1926) was destroyed by a fire in 1994. This model opened in 1996. Only some of the horses go up and down, so if you like the “riding” motion, look up at the roof for the ones on the two inside rows that have the bars necessary to go up and down.

Twirlin’ Teacups

My Fun Rating: 2/5

Spin, Drop, or Other Excitement: Lots of spinning, though you can somewhat control how much you spin

Little Kids: Those under 36″ must be accompanied by an adult; children must be able to walk on their own

I’m not a fan of spinning teacups in general, so I settled for watching others on this ride.

Screamin’ Eagle

Spin, Drop, or Other Excitement: Extreme drops and occasional vertical spins

Little Kids: Minimum 48″

This was the only ride where I was like, “no, no, no” through most of the ride. It’s a must-do, but it’s also absolutely crazy to hang upside down. If you have enough brain function left to think, there’s a good view of Lake Ontario (upside down, of course) from the top!

Scenic Train

My Fun Rating: 2/5

This is about as calm as any attraction at SeaBreeze! It’s a great ride for those who don’t want the thrills.

WindStarz

This is a fun ride, but after so much spinning, I decided I didn’t really want to go around in another circle.

Time Machine

Ok, so I shouldn’t give a ride 1 star for fun when I didn’t do it! But those in my group who had done it assured me your body just isn’t used to spinning sideways. It was the worst ride in the park per them, but the people on it seemed to be having fun.

Tilt-a-Whirl

I’ve been on tilt-a-whirls before, and while they’re fun, they also spin a lot, so I forewent on this occasion.

Bear Trax

Jack Rabbit

Little Kids: Minimum 48″

I saved the best for last! This is a fun yet not terribly crazy (there are some fun drops!) ride. It’s also famous as the oldest continuously operating roller coaster in America, opening in 1920. I do recommend covering your ears while entering the tunnel; everyone decides to scream right then, and it’s deafening!

Seabreeze Water Park

To be honest, I enjoyed the water park more than the rest of the park. It’s a less intense break from spinning and dropping. It’s also the favorite of the smaller kids, as one section is set aside for younger kids (no height restrictions). The builders were smart – they built the water park on the south side of the park, away from Lake Ontario. While there was a chilly breeze off the lake while waiting in line for the Whirlwind (about as far north as you can get), the water park was quite comfortable for swimming!

Note that phones and other loose items are not allowed in the water. You can either carry your stuff back out to your vehicle or you can rent a locker for a day (currently around $10; cash only at least when I visited) or poke your quarters into a single-use locker ($0.75 for a small one or $1 for a large one – quarters only).

Soak Zone

This area was the favorite of the kids, for sure!

Soak Zone Slides

Helix Slide

This is a really fun slide, but the line does move slowly. There’s even a sign saying “when you’re here, you’ll be waiting about 45 minutes.” Thankfully, the lines weren’t long the day I visited.

Kiddie Slides

Body Slide

For some reason, this slide in the kiddie area (behind the bucket) doesn’t get mentioned on the park website or map. Adults are allowed to use it, and it’s great fun. The line moves very slowly, so keep that in mind if the line is long.

Rip Tide/Vortex Slides

Little Kids: Minimum 48″; on the Rip Tide, children 42”-48” may be accompanied by a responsible adult.

These are two different slides, but they’re similar enough for me to give them a single rating. Only the Rip Tide allows double tubes, but both use the same staircase, so the line can back up a bit.

Hydro Racer Slide

I very much enjoyed this; in fact, it was probably my favorite of the water slides simply because the line moved faster (4 people can do down at the same time).

Lazy River

I didn’t get a chance to the Lazy River, but those with me who’d done it thought it wasn’t very exciting compared to the water slides.

Little Kids: Must be toilet trained (no diapers or swim diapers)
